A child growing up in Great Grimsby should have just as good a chance of going to university or securing a good career as children growing up in any other part of the county. But at the moment that isn’t the case.
Now the Conservative Government could force Scartho and Great Coates nurseries to close, despite them both being judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. This is on top of their plans to make huge cuts to schools in Great Grimsby, and spend the money on schools in wealthier parts of the country. They are letting down children in our town.
In my time as your Member of Parliament, I have:
- Developed and proposed policies to get more children from low-income backgrounds into university;
- Helped secure debates in Parliament to force the Government to explain why Yorkshire and the Humber has the lowest educational attainment in the country;
- And campaigned against the Conservatives new proposed funding cuts from the start.
My focus is on keeping Scartho and Great Coates nurseries open. Please sign our petition against the Conservatives plans to shut our nurseries, and help guarantee our children a great start in life: www.grimsbylabour.org.uk/save_scartho_and_great_coates_nurseries
