The Conservatives have abandoned pensioners at this election.
According to their manifesto, they will:
- Drop their promise to increase the state pension every year
- Scrap the winter fuel allowance
- Introduce a Dementia Tax, meaning you will have to give up your home if you need care
They have also offered nothing to women born in the 1950's, whose pension plans were ripped up at the last minute.
People in Great Grimsby who have worked hard all their lives want something to pass onto their family. If I'm re-elected I will vote against the Tories' unfair Dementia Tax.
The most important thing we can do for those approaching their retirement, or those who have already retired, is guarantee the security of a good pension. I will always protect the state pension and make sure it increases every year. And I will support women born in the 1950s whose pensions have been delayed by up to 6 years.
