Women's Forum 'Rebooted' - Grimsby Labour Party

The Grimsby Constituency Labour Party Women’s Forum is back and raring to go. The aims and objectives of our forum are to recruit more women into the Labour Party and encourage women to make the jump from member to activist. Fifteen of us had a very positive meeting on August 18th and established the points below:

  • Women are involved in running events, accessing training, policy development and social events; (not forgetting to make new friends and have fun along the way!)
  • We will ensure that we listen to women’s views and that they are reflected in policy discussions.
  • We will reach out to the women in the wider community through local campaigns, and work with women’s organisations in the constituency to engage women voters, highlight issues, and get a better deal for local women.
  • Bringing women together, we will endeavour to empower each other and gain the knowledge and skills we need to ensure that our voices are heard.

Watch this space for meetings and campaign activities; also all women members will receive personal invitations.

If you have any questions or suggestions you can contact Sharon Westerman, Women’s Officer at sharonwesterman@hotmail.co.uk

Latest news: Women's Forum meeting 6th October at 7pm, 112 Cleethorpe Rd.

Following feedback from the Women's Conference, we are looking forward to hearing Nan Sloane, Director of the Centre for Women & Democracy and Oliver Heath, Regional Organiser for Northern Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. They will be with us to offer inspiration, direction and an opportunity for all our voices to be heard.
