Save Scartho and Great Coates Nurseries

Scrap plans to end funding to Grimsby's local nurseries

In two years’ time the Government is going to end funding for state maintained nursery schools.

Unless Scartho Nursery School and Great Coates Nursery School in Grimsby are able to raise the shortfall, these essential facilities will be lost forever, despite both being rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

Scartho’s head teacher, Liz Jeffrey said “Everyone associated with Scartho can't believe that the Government is prepared to let the future of state funded nursery schools become precarious. If the funding goes, it will have a significant impact on us. It would be an absolute travesty if we had to close.”

Our children who are at the most exciting and rich period of development in their lives deserve the best. I'm calling on the Government to look at this again and protect these essential facilities in our communities.
