Tory Cuts finally reach 1/2 a £Billion in Public health

public_health.pngTory Cuts will have reached £531 million in Public Health by 2019/20, it seems that prevention is not as good as a cure! What a sad state of affairs!

The UK has a long history of fantastic public health, what is public health i hear you ask, in one sentence;-It is the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting human health as a society. What does it do, public health is the body responsible for the strategies to tackle teenage pregnancy, child obesity, physical inactivity, sexually transmitted disease and substance misuse to name a few.

Why does it matter if public health grants are slashed, it is recognised by most people in the health sector that the prevention agenda is far cheaper than hospital and other services that people might end up using. It is costlier in the long run to cut these services, therefore if the money is diverted to short term issues within the NHS it is building up problems in the future.

If you believe that this callous Tory Government has not planned these cuts then let me ask you this "why did they transfer Public Health to local authorities in April 2013" my view is so they could cut budgets and still claim they haven't cut the NHS...You can't trust a Tory!
